APS K-1

The APS is the newest kayak design. The boat has many influences, from the Prijon Stingray, input from Jon Wilkey from Team Australia, and finally redesigned by Canadian National Team member Nathan Davis.

The boat is 351cm long, 60cm wide, and is design for paddlers up to 80kg. I have had alot of demand for a larger boat for you larger guys, hopefully summer 2009. The APS tracks exceptionally well for a short boat, but thanks to the re-designed stern, turns well on both the sweep and draw. The boat has hard chines giving it good speed and run out of the upstreams.

The idea behind the boat was to have a boat that feels like you are riding on top of the water with a light feel. The boat was tested in Charlotte, NC and the design provides a boat that floats over the large holes with good control. That being said, Nathan did not want to sacrifice turning, and the boat was designed to allow him to sweep the stern under in certain upstream gates when needed.
